We, the Carmelite Fathers of Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, have always been committed to our mission of proclaiming the Word of God and spreading the values of the Gospel. Being aware of the constant call of the Holy Father to use the available technologies and mass media for this purpose of evangelization, we have been active in this ministry of the media for many years; our presence in the print media is most expressively seen in the publishing of the magazine Naman Ballok Jesu, dealing with various religious and social topics, which has been successfully running for the past five years; and our involvement in the web ministry, carried out mainly through the Shrine website www.infantjesusmangalore.net. However, in our desire to make Christ’s Word touch the hearts of more people, it has always been our dream to enter into the TV ministry. Today, this dream has been realized. With joy we announce the inauguration of our own TV programme, which will be telecast on the DIVINE WORD channel. The title of the programme is:

CARMEL KIRAN
Warmth of the Word, Radiance of the Values
The TV programme was inaugurated after the 10:30 am. novena mass in honour of Infant Jesus at the Shrine today, August 29, 2013, by Rev. Fr. Sweebert D’Souza SJ, principal of St. Aloysius College, by switching on the remote. Immediately the title song played and the trailer of the programme was telecast. Fr. Sweebert acknowledged the efforts and commitment of the Carmelites to spread the Word of God, especially through the Infant Jesus Shrine where so many devotees receive the blessings and graces of Infant Jesus. He congratulated us and wished us all the best in this new venture. The chief guest was Mr. Steven Mendes, founder of Divine Word channel. He expressed his happiness in having this programme telecast on his channel. He stated that it is a quality programme that will enhance the quality and viewership of the Divine Word channel, because it is based on the Scriptures and Christian values, and is a witness to the fruitful ministry of the Carmelites in the service of God. Mr. Stany compared the programme, while Fr. Stephen Pereira OCD, Editor of Carmel Kiran thanked all present.

What is Carmel Kiran???
As the subtitle suggests, Carmel Kiran hopes to spread the warmth and light of God’s love present in His Word, to all people, so that their hearts may be brightened and they may share the warmth of God’s love with others. Through this channel, we wish to project the radiant beauty and relevance of the values of the Gospel in the present world, so that the life of Christ and His teaching may guide us in our day-to-day living. In view of this purpose, Carmel Kiran will contain:

• Reflections on the Word of God

• The teaching of the Church in various matters

• Talks and presentations on Carmelite spirituality

• Biography of the saints of the day

• Discussions on Christian and social values

• Interviews with experts of various religious and social fields

• Testimonies of devotees who have experienced the miraculous blessings of Infant Jesus

• Catholic news from around the world

We earnestly urge you not to miss this programme as it will surely bring God’s blessings upon you, nourish your faith and help you to be better Christians. Carmel Kiran will be telecast daily at 7:00 am. and 7:00 pm. on the Divine Word channel. May God bless our efforts to spread His Word so that through this channel, the hearts of many people may be filled with the warmth of His Word and the radiance of His values.
